Modern Technology has made it possible to imgaine out of the box and given us many wonderful things that weren’t avaiiable before. By the blessings of modern technology, location tracking becomes easier to ensure someones safety and reach them for help. Apple has taken it to the next level and made it much easier for iPhone users to share their live location with friends and family to seek help in emergency situations.

iPhone makes it incredibly simple to share your exact location to other iPhone or Apple gadget clients. Many individuals even prefer to share their location to family or partners endlessly so they can generally know where they are in the midst of misery. iMessage makes sharing your location like this fairly without any problem. You can share your live location to your contacts for 60 minutes, a day, or endlessly. Yet, your arrangements can run out of road in the event that you run into an especially annoying issue when sharing your location. The “Area Not Available” issue in iMessage has become the plague of many iPhone users.

In some cases, users face a common problem where their location cannot be shared with another person. “Location not available” is a message that appears when you send a text or iMessage and the person on the other end doesn’t have your location information. The information may be unavailable for any number of reasons, so it’s important to figure out what’s going on before panicking.

What is the “Location Not Available” issue?

The issue of location tracking was the number one issue of the first iMessage Beta, Apple’s first beta of its iOS 9.3. Now, the problem of the “Location Not Available” issue has become so widespread that it has become a major problem. Many people even had their location was tracked for months, with some people receiving alerts as recently as April of this year. Not everyone has this issue, but plenty do. They have been unable to stop the issue from occurring on their personal iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 7, both of which have location services turned off for the most part. It could be a problem with the location services that is causing the issue, or it could be a problem with the way iMessage is communicating with other Apple devices.

Why does it happen?

Location not available problem occurs when someone sending you a message accidentally sends you a link to share your live location with them. However, as you can see, the link takes you to an error page that says, “iPhone Location Not Available”. Now, unless your friends are really stupid and haven’t updated their Apple devices with the latest iOS, you know that this only means one thing: your location is unavailable. But people using iPhones or iPads on iOS 11 will see a URL that takes them to a different page that clearly says “iMessage”. That’s because Apple specifically wants the user to be aware that this problem is occurring on their end.

How to avoid the “Location Not Available” issue?

The most common reason for this error is that you haven’t enabled Location Services on your phone. To do that, go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services. Next, make sure Send My Current Location To Friends is turned on (and to turn it off, just switch the button from green to grey). Another possible reason is that the recipient has turned off their Location Services in their settings. This may also be done by going to Privacy. Some other solutions are-

  1. To check the status of your iMessage location sharing status, open the Messages app and tap on the Message icon at the bottom of the screen. Scroll down until you find “Location Sharing” and tap it. Tap “Reply.”
  2. Some of the problems with Apple iMessage location sharing can be caused by a user who goes offline for a few minutes, even an hour. A person who uses an Apple Watch or iPhone with GPS should have no problem with this. So if you are an Apple user who’s an Apple Watch user, clearing your location history shouldn’t be an issue. To clear your Apple Watch history, tap on the Apple Watch app on the screen.

Conclusion

If you have location sharing enabled on your iPhone, you should be aware that the proximity feature is supposed to help you get closer to a particular spot or people by letting you send your current location to your contacts. However, you should use the feature in moderation because it has the potential to endanger you.
